This is typically caused by hair, soap scum, bacteria or grease buildup. Depending on the area, we recommend using an acid or cleaner that is a proper commercial grade as a general maintenance tool to prevent build up from happening. In some cases, main sewer lines back up due to a larger issue, caused by debris build up in the main line like tree roots or mud if the line has potentially been compromised.

Our recommendation for average maintenance is to pump your septic every 3-5 years in a standard home. Older homes with older drain fields or households more than 4 people may require more frequent pumping. Inspections are only typically required during the sale of a home, but you are welcome to request an inspection after your scheduled pumping for no additional cost.

A standard septic tank for a residential home is 1,000 gallons. Sometimes properties with shops may have an additional septic tank. Unless extremely dated, you can refer to Southwest District Health for a copy of your septic permit for approximate location and information.

We offer a basic camera and locate service for $350 if your septic permitting is not on file due to the age of your home. This process typically takes less than an hour all together. This fee does not include the time to dig the lid once located.
